About Kahu blocks

Kahu Blocks is a division of Kahu Publishing Limited, a Christchurch company founded by Glen Coates in 1993 to publish and sell his landscape photographic work.  Following the 2010 Christchurch earthquake and the consequent fall in tourism, an alternative source of income was found in the manufacture of photoblocks.  The framing of Glen’s images on a small scale, then leaped to the
large-scale manufacture of “bare” blocks for supply to photographic outlets.  An innovative production process and an eye for quality workmanship has lead Kahu Blocks to become the main supplier of photoblocks in New Zealand.

While photoblocks have generally been imported from Asia, as a NZ manufacturer, Kahu Blocks is now able to supply a high quality product at competitive prices across Australasia.  The advantages of buying locally-made are numerous:

  • Quality finish

  • Wide range of sizes

  • Large sizes not available from overseas

  • Prompt supply with large stocks

  • Free shop display units

  • Great after-sales service

  • Custom sizes made to order
